The Precious

Our 1964 International fire truck with a Hale pumper unit.

This truck is a 1962 International Model B-176 with a 345 Cubic Inch V8 engine. The body is a Howe Pumper System capable of delivering 750 gallons per minute when new. The truck was restored by Kenneth H. Rabeneck of Louisville KY.

The fire truck originally served the town of Walkerton Indiana. At some point it was sold to a private party and then sold to the Oldenburg Brewery in Northern Ky. The brewery had used the truck parked out front of their establishment as advertising for their beer. As the brewery was going out of business, Mr. Rabeneck purchased the truck for restoration.

Mr. Rabeneck removed the water tank and reworked the tank and hose storage area with a steel treaded plate floor and two wooden bench seats. He replaced the engine, front wheels and rims, and changed the rear axle gears to achieve a highway speed of 65 mph. Mr. Rabeneck also performed repairs to the electrical system, lighting and a few body parts. Mr. Rabeneck operated the truck for several years in Louisville Ky, serving in many a Fireman’s wedding and various other events.

The truck is now owned and operated by Glenn Greenwell and Bill Rademacher.

The truck is also sponsored by Armored Planet Web Design and Hosting, located in Rineyville KY.
